Working at TIMco: Not Just an Employee, a Member of a Family

Following Employee Appreciation Day, we’ve been thinking about our fantastic TIMco employees and all that they bring to the business. With employees being the backbone of any business, we thought we’d take a look at some initiatives we have in place to help with motivation and speak to our employees to see what they think.

As a family business TIMco has always worked to ensure that employees both feel like an extension to the family and that they each feel valued for the contributions they make, as Alex Jones our Sales Support Manager suggests; “At TIMco you’re not just an employee, you’re a member of the TIMco family”.

To support that inclusive family feeling, TIMco has implemented a number of initiatives ranging from hosting a family fun day on site through to providing employees with time off to take part in family activities such as Sports Day or other important occasions.

Feeling included, and that your voice counts, is also an important way to motivate and include staff in company decisions. Although TIMco now employs more than 110 people the company has schemes in place to allow employees to express their opinions or share opportunities.

Alex went onto say, “All ideas and opinions are respected and listened to and if they’re realistic and can benefit customers, then they’re always taken into account. This helps me feel valued in the workplace and as such there’s a strong team spirit and an inclusive feeling amongst the workforce.”

Employees that are driven and engaged benefit the company as they’re also more productive. To engage and reward employees we look to recognise birthdays and celebrate successes on an individual or group basis. Initiatives that have helped with this include offering birthdays as a day off work as well as the option for duvet days when employees may need to take a day off at short notice. Weather permitting, our TIMco team are known to enjoy lunchtime BBQs too!

Such initiatives have been recognised and praised by John Gregson, our Business Consultant, who said that he views TIMco as being ‘a unique company to work for that values employees and retains them.’

The investment in employee welfare and motivation also makes good business sense as it’s proven to help with the recruitment and retention of staff – with many employees celebrating decades of time spent with the business.

We’ve found that it’s also worth reflecting on the fact that employees are ambassadors for the business. If they’re motivated and engaged they’re more likely to speak well of the business and become advocates. Let’s also not forget that an employee’s passion for their work shines through when dealing with customers, helping to create a virtuous circle.

If you fancy becoming party of the TIMco team, why not drop a copy of your CV through to sales@timco.co.uk. We’d love to welcome you to the family.
